PAOK came away with it's 6th win in a row after defeating the difficult Atromitos side by 1-0 with a late goal by substitute Thanasis Papazoglou at a packed Toumba Stadium. After last week's huge win against Olympiakos, PAOK was a bit flat in today's match. It was Atromitos who created the first chance of the match when a long range effort by Brito was parried away for a corner by Chalkias in the 4th minute. In the 14th minute the PAOK defence were caught sleeping as former PAOK player Anastasakos shot from a good position was well held by Chalkias. In the 17th minute PAOK created it's first chance of the match when Vierihna beat of one challenge and his shot from just inside the penalty area was parried away by Atromitos keeper in Mihailidis. In the second half nothing much was changing and Fernando Santos introduced Koutsianikoulis, Papazoglou and Muslimovic to give PAOK greater attacking options to score. In the 57th minute Brito found an unmarked Anastasakos who looked like having a clear shot towards goals but Malezas came to the rescue in the last minute to put in a timely tackle. In the 62nd minute a long range effort by Vierihna was parried by Mihailidis straight to Edihno who layed the ball of to Vierihna who's shot came off Muslimovic and went into the back of the net. Unfortunatly Muslimovic was in an offside position and the goal was ruled out. Everything looked like this game was going to finish in a 0-0 draw until the 88th minute when Vierihna found Muslimovic who's shot came off Papazoglou into the back of the net to give PAOK a 1-0 victory. This was Papazoglou's first league goal for PAOK. This was not one of PAOK's best performances but three points is what counts at the end of the day. PAOK COACH FERNANDO SANTOS PRESS CONFERENCE: I warned my players during the week that this was going to be a difficult match. This wasn't our best match. We let Atromitos to take control of possession. In the second half we improved on our behalf. This was a unconvincing display even when we pressured our opponents. But that's football. The team who scores goals wins. The only good thing about today's match is the victory. We can't say that we put in a good performance. THANASIS PAPAZOGLOU: The most important thing is that we picked up the 3 points today. I knew I was going to come on. If we scored before I came on I probably wouldn't have played. Now we look forward to the upcoming cup match against Giannina.
