24-01-2010    Super League Round: 19
olympiakos piraeus 0 - 1 PAOK Thessaloniki

PAOK recorded 5th win in a row and this time beating Olympiakos by 1-0 at the Karaiskaki Stadium in what can be described as one of PAOK's best performance for a very long time.
PAOK were playing very tight in defence and tried to catch Olympiakos on the break. That occurred in the 20th minute when from a great counter attack Ivic found Endihno in space and he shot past Nikopolidis to give PAOK a 1-0 lead. This was Edihno's first goal in a PAOK shirt. After that goal PAOK was playing discipline football and did not let Olympiakos in the match.
The 2nd half was much the same and in the 67th minute PAOK were unlucky not to go 2-0 up when a free kick taken by Pablo Garcia found Vierihna who's header hit the crossbar and the danger was cleared. In the 88th minute another great opportunity missed by PAOK when a direct free kick taken by Pablo Garcia hit the post and the danger was cleared. In the last minute of normal time Olympiakos created there only chance of the match when a low shot by Dudu was well saved by Chalkias. In the end this was a huge win by PAOK which they played the same game as the Greece 2004 team. Very well organised and discipline. With this win PAOK have into equal 2nd spot with Olympiakos.

PAOK COACH FERNANDO SANTOS PRESS CONFERENCE: In the first half we played well and had control of the match. In the second half we were pressured in the first 15 minutes and after that we held firm. We did miss 2 great opportunities to score which we hit the post twice. Our opponents didn't create a single chant. We recorded a huge win against a quality side. I congratulate my players for the performance.

KOSTAS CHALKIAS: We deserved the win today. Not because we scored but we produced a quality display. This is a huge result against a very good side.

PAOK PRESIDENT THEODOROS ZAGORAKIS: At PAOK we are all united. That what the fans saw today and that's what they will see in the future. We look forward to our upcoming matches. This was a huge win and we must continue like this
