PAOK ended 2009 on a big high after defeating Ergotelis in Crete by 2-0. There was very little created in the first half by both teams as there was no rhythm to the game. However the only chance of the half fell to the home team when Chesnauskous set up Frangoulakis who's shot from outside the penalty area narrowly missed the target. In the 2nd half PAOK got off to a flying start with the best chance of the match so far when Ivic found Arabatzis who controlled the ball and slot the ball passed Athanasiou at the front post to give PAOK a 1-0 lead. In the 65th minute PAOK put the game beyond doubt when they went 2-0 ahead when a pass from Ivic found Vierihna who with only the keeper to beat made no mistake in scoring. A great way to end 2009 for PAOK. Let's hope 2010 will be a big year for PAOK. PAOK COACH FERNANDO SANTOS PRESS CONFERENCE: This was a difficult match today as we knew Ergotelis is a difficult side. We came here today to take the 3 points. After the first 15 minutes I believe we had control of the match. Despite having most of the possession Ergotelis tried to threaten us and created the best chance before half time. At the half time break I told my players that they need to show more character and passion. In the 2nd half we scored a quick goal which made things difficult for Ergotelis. From then on we controlled the match and scored another goal through Vierihna. This victory is a fair result.
